Mengo Senior School is focusing heavily on structural, spiritual, and academic transformations.
Current Academic Theme & Focus
The official school theme set by the administration is “Growing in Faith, Fruitful in Life” paired with the active slogan “Arise and Shine”. This theme follows their massive milestone celebration where the school marked 130 years of existence. The administration is pushing for digital efficiency, rolling out enhanced online (live) lessons and assessments using the school’s e-site platform.
The 18-Billion Shilling Infrastructure Progress
Construction is aggressively continuing on the school’s signature Mega Dining Hall project. This massive 9-story multi-purpose building—whose foundation stone was laid directly by the First Lady and Minister of Education—is moving through its phased development. When finished, it will dynamically change the campus by housing a modern kitchen, a 9,000-learner dining space, a 1,000-seat computer lab, a gym, and a performing arts hall.
Music, Dance, and Drama (MDD) Highlights
The campus recently concluded its highly anticipated annual MDD (Music, Dance, and Drama) Competitions. The 2026 events drew widespread attention online and featured standout entertainment guest appearances, including a notable performance by popular Ugandan artist Kenneth Mugabi.
Co-Curricular & Academic Reign
- Global Academic Linkages: Following their top-tier performance where they logged the highest number of students scoring “A”s in principal subjects nationally, Head Teacher Dr. Grace Ssebanakitta is currently spearheading new professional career linkages with international universities in the UK, India, and Turkey.
- Defending Climate Champions: The school continues to implement projects as the reigning titleholders of the national Green Schools Debate Championship, which focuses heavily on student-led climate change innovations.
