Current Outlook and Theme for 2026Fresh off celebrating its landmark 130th anniversary, Uganda’s oldest formal secondary school has entered 2026 with an expanding campus community. According to updated academic records, the prominent co-educational day school now hosts an impressive population of over 8,667 students and 430 total staff members, cementing its position as the country’s top-performing day school. For the 2026 academic year, the administration announced its official spiritual and operational theme as \u201cGrowing in Faith, Fruitful in Life\u201d under the school slogan \u201cArise and Shine.\u201dMajor Infrastructure & Development ProjectsThe Mega Dining Hall Project: The school administration and the Board of Governors (led by chairperson Dr. Robinah Kyeyune) have heavily prioritized the ongoing development of a massive, multi-purpose Mega Dining Hall to accommodate the school\u2019s rapidly growing student body.Eco-Friendly Innovations: Building on recent sustainability efforts, the school continues to optimize its advanced rainwater harvesting and water treatment facility. Mengo SS maintains its competitive edge in Kampala Metropolitan Area competitions. Alongside its consistent, top-tier performance in the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) A-Levels, the school has actively championed regional environmental initiatives. Mengo SS was recently crowned the overall winner of the Climate Change Innovation Challenge (partnering with Standard Chartered Bank and ECOTRUST), where its students designed highly scalable environmental conservation projects aimed at community-level intervention.<\/em><\/mark>

The Inaugural Mengo SS Marathon:<\/strong> The school is launching its first-ever annual 20km marathon.
